Before You Move All soldiers who are PCSing to new duty stations should
contact their local installation Transportation
Office as soon as possible after receiving orders.Inventory your household goods
and prepare a weight es- timate. Check your estimated weight against the
weight chart.
Carefully determine your shipping date and avoid changing it once it's set. You
must be present during
packing and pickup. If you must change dates, callthe Transportation Office-not
the moving company.
Dismantle outdoor play equipment and suchstructures as prefab storage
sheds.Remove items from the walls- pictures, curtain rods,
mirrors, utensil racks, etc.Remove the TV antenna, if you have one.Make sure the
packers wrap and pack everythingdon't
let them tell you they have to take something to the warehouse to be
packed.Remove items fron attics, crawl spaces and other
similar storage areas. Movers are not required to gointo areas that are not
accessible by a permanent
stairway.Do not argue with the movers-contact the

refrigerator and freezers

Arriving at
Fort Benning
All permanent party personnel are required to report to the
Installation Replacement Division Building 2607 located inSoldiers’ Plaza. This
facility is open 24 hours, seven days a
week. New arrivals to Fort Benning will receive a convenientand short in
processing, usually ranging between one
to three days, depending on the date and time arrival. Soldiershere in TDY
status, need to report directly to the unit
stated on their orders. The unit will schedule all necessary appointments.To in
process, Soldiers will need copies of their PCS
orders (with amendments if applicable), DA Form 31(leave form), personnel file
and medical and dental
records. Officers and NCOs need a copy of their latestOER/NCOER or DA Form 1059.

Army CommunityServices RelocationReadiness Program Moving is a natural part of
life for Soldiers and their Families.
The Fort Benning Army Community Service CenterRelocation Readiness Program
offers comprehensive services
to Soldiers and Family Members that are designed to assist with their Permanent
Change of Station move to Fort Benning
and make the process as smooth as possible. The relocationprogram-lending closet
is available to personnel and
their Families newly assigned to Fort Benning. The LendingCloset provides
kitchen totes, irons, ironing boards,
sleeping mats, infant items and other household items.These items are loaned to
Soldiers and their Families awaiting
shipment of their household goods, which is typically30 days. Exceptions are
made when there is an unforeseen
delay. Newcomer family orientations and bus tours are2008 Arrival Information
held monthly (except in December). This is a great
opportunity to get to know all about Fort Benning and the surrounding area.
Soldiers, Families andCivilians are encouraged to attend. The program

IN PROCESSING
All officers and enlisted soldiers must report to the Welcome Center on arrival.
The Personnel Center is located at Benning Drive Bldg Number 2622. You can reach

You can expect to be with the detachment for 5 days. When you get signed in, you
will receive a billeting assignment, bedding and a temporary meal card if you
are not on separate rations. If your family arrives with you, Fort Benning
Lodging will help make them comfortable during your inprocessing.

You should have all of your personal records on hand. Personnel, Finance,
Medical and Dental.
You must be in uniform to inprocess. The duty uniform at Fort Benning, GA is PT.
Be
sure that you have enough uniforms with you to begin duties after inprocessing.

make hotel reservations well in advance of your arrival. During the PCS season
Fort Benning Lodging is often fully booked. If you have reservations please make
sure you keep your confirmation number with you, this is your proof of
