Soldiers and their families arriving to Fort Benning on PCS orders can utilize the Lending Locker. Personnel must provide two copies of their orders (both losing and gaining orders) and have inprocessed at Fort Benning, Ga. Most items are available for a 30 day period. Soldiers and military families who have shipped household items must contact the Transportation Office upon arrival to their duty station. Please (706) 545-2254 for more information.

There is no furniture in the Lending Locker. Soldiers who desire to utilize loaner funishings must utilize off-post resources. Some items of bedroom, living room, and dining room furniture may be obtained on an exception to policy from the Furnishings Management Branch, Building 1743. Government furniture is also available for lower enlisted personnel (E6 and below) with family members who reside off post within the surrounding community. Individuals who wish to rent small/large appliances, cots, large cribs, vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, etc. can contact the Military Rent-All on the installation at (706) 689-7501.

English as second lanquage classes are available in the Columbus, Georgia metropoliton area. These classes are designed for individuals who desire to learn beginning english. Individuals who are more advanced can also be referred to the Adult Education Center in Columbus, Georgia. (There is not a fee for this service.) Soldiers are encouraged to utilize the Utlity Waiver Deposit pro- gram. This program provides waivers for soldiers on PCS orders living in the Muscogee County (Columbus, GA) or Fort Benning communities only.
